weekend project

By Joe | September 12, 2008

okay so i’ve watched 97 out of the imdb top 250, my project for this weekend is to add at least 10 to that. so, like, im gonna keep the list here cause counting is hard sometimes.

1. Laberinto del fauno, El (2006) (#60)

Trippy and gorgeous and depressing. Watching a movie with subtitles at 2am may not have been a good idea but i fought through it.

2. Casablanca (1942) (#11)

First entry in the “I can’t believe you haven’t seen that” category. I think I liked it more for the historical backdrop and the awkward international melting pot than for the actual plot.

3. Life of Brian (1979) (#144)

Funnier than I expected. Probably not top 250 but hey it’s good anyway.

4. Vertigo (1958) (#41)

SAL BASS: You know, that Kim Novak has some big breasts.”

5.  The Sting (1973) (#97)

wow a paul newman/robert redford movie is good no way

6. Sleuth (1972) (#182)

Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine playing one on one for two hours. Very cool.

7. The Elephant Man (1980) (#86)

i think mr. merrick had some health issues he may want to get those checked out

8. Rear Window (1954) (#16)

pretty good but totally rips off that simpsons episode where bart breaks his leg and can’t swim the whole summer

9. Anatomy of a Murder (1959) (#214)

expected to like it, didn’t that much

10. The Hustler (1961) (#187)

eh

its over i win

pickles

By Joe | August 21, 2007

do you think anybody’s suicide note has ever mentioned their inability to open a jar of pickles as a primary reason for offing themselves?

because it’s in my first draft so i was wondering if i’m setting a new precedent here.

i mean, goddamn does that make you feel inadequate. i’m going to have blisters or some shit on my hand now too.

UPDATE: I walked into the kitchen like 15 minutes later and tried to open the jar again. It opened easily. This somehow makes it even more frustrating. And yes, I’m doing this at 5:45 AM. I need Ambien again.

i wonder why johnny miller never mentions this. he is so humble.
